On Thursday (May 21), just one day before Bitcoin Pizza Day, Christie Pearce Rampone, a former captain of the U.S. Women's National Soccer team (USWNT), joined the crypto community by buying her "first piece of #Bitcoin" with the help of Binance.US CEO Catherine Coley.
Pearce Rampone (or "Captain America" as many of her fans like to call her) is a legendary American soccer player. She "retired as a professional player in 2017 and currently works as a broadcast analyst for FOX Sports."
She has played for the U.S. in FIFA's Women's World Cup five times, and was the captain of the 2015 team that won the World Cup in 2015 (when USA beat Japan in the final 5-2). During her time with the USWNT, she played in 19 Women’s World Cup matches, and captained the team on 113 occasions.
Pearce Rampone is also a three-time Olymic gold medalist, winning championship titles at the 2004 Athens Olympics, 2008 Beijing Olympics, and 2012 London Olympics.
