What is Tron (TRX)?
TRX, or TRONIX, is a TRC-20 token that helps power the TRON Protocol and dApp ecosystem, which features a blockchain explorer, native wallet, and an expansive set of DeFi projects, including blockchain games, NFT offerings, marketplaces, and more. TRON aims to become an infrastructure provider for the decentralized web. Its network is optimized for speed and scalability, providing users with fast and low-cost transactions.
As the mainnet native token of TRON, TRX is used to power smart contracts, pay for transaction fees, and serve as a unit of account across the TRON ecosystem. TRX is joined by three other tokens: TRX10, TRC20, and TRC721. TRC10 and TRC20 tokens serve as the smart contract standard without and with EVM compatibility respectively. TRC721 serves as the standard for issuing NFTs. TRC20 and TRC721 are fully compatible with ERC20 and ERC721, respectively.
