What is Immutable X (IMX)?
Immutable X is a layer 2 Ethereum scaling solution designed to provide the NFT, or non-fungible token, community with faster transaction times and lower gas fees by using zero-knowledge proofs (ZK–proofs) to validate transactions. Additionally, Immutable X offers developer-friendly tools including APIs and an SDK that allows developers to build NFT marketplaces and other infrastructure directly on the protocol. Finally, the Immutable X marketplace, built and maintained by the project team, allows users to mint and trade NFTs with zero gas fees.
IMX is an ERC-20 token that powers the Immutable X protocol. IMX is used for fee payments, and governance. The protocol collects a small fee on primary, or first-time, NFT sales and all NFT trades, a portion of which is payable in IMX or the requested cryptocurrency, in which case the protocol will automatically swap the asset used as payment for IMX.
