How to recover Solana account rent on your Binance.US Wallet
When you trade, receive airdrops, or interact with apps on Solana, your wallet automatically creates token or NFT accounts. Each one requires a small SOL deposit, known as "rent," to stay active on the blockchain. Over time, unused accounts can lock up SOL you could otherwise use. The Solana Account Rent Recovery feature in your Binance.US Wallet lets you close those empty accounts and reclaim that SOL in just a few steps.
What is Solana account rent?
Solana uses a rent system to manage storage on the blockchain. Every token or NFT is stored in its own account, and each account requires a minimum SOL deposit (typically 0.00203928 SOL) to stay active. This prevents the network from being cluttered with inactive accounts.
Once a token or NFT account has a zero balance and is no longer needed, you can close it and recover the SOL that was locked in it. You can learn more about the Solana account model here.
How to recover your SOL rent
Before you start, make sure the accounts you want to close have zero token or NFT balances. You'll need a small amount of SOL in your wallet to cover the network gas fee. SOL lives in your main wallet balance, separate from your token accounts, so you can still hold SOL for fees even if your token accounts are empty. Binance.US Wallet doesn't charge any additional fees for this.
Open the Binance.US app and tap More, then Solana Account Rent Recovery. If your current wallet doesn't support Solana, you'll be prompted to switch to a compatible one.
On this page you'll see:
Your connected wallet address
The number of token accounts eligible for closure (those with zero balances)
The total SOL you can recover, calculated at approximately 0.00203928 SOL per account
If no accounts are eligible, you'll see: "There is no rent to recover in this wallet." You can switch between wallet addresses to check other accounts.
Tap Claim to start the recovery. Depending on how many accounts you have, this may require more than one transaction signature:
Each Solana transaction can handle up to 24 accounts.
If you have more than 24 eligible accounts, you'll need to sign multiple times.
Confirm each signature in your wallet when prompted.
Once complete, the recovered SOL will be added to your wallet balance.
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to close token accounts?
Yes. Only accounts with zero balances are closed, so no tokens or NFTs will be affected. Your primary wallet address stays the same, and any accounts that still hold assets are untouched.
Are there any fees?
Binance.US Wallet doesn't charge any fees for rent recovery. You'll only need to cover the standard Solana network gas fee, so make sure your wallet has enough SOL to complete the transaction.
Why might I need to sign multiple transactions?
Solana limits each transaction to 24 accounts for efficiency and security. If you have more than 24 eligible accounts, the recovery splits into multiple signatures. You'll see your progress, for example "2 of 4 signatures," and can move through each one at your own pace.
What if I have no recoverable rent?
If no eligible accounts are found, there's nothing to close and no action needed. You can switch to a different wallet address to check other accounts.
