Unclaimed property information by state

This article provides information about unclaimed property, sorted by state

Updated over a month ago

As a licensed and U.S. regulated platform, Binance.US may be required to turn over unclaimed funds ("unclaimed property") to the State through a process known as escheatment. Escheatment processes vary by state.

Funds are escheated when an account is considered inactive or dormant for an extended period, or when Binance.US discontinues operations in certain states. These funds are handed over to the state’s Unclaimed Property Program. The transferred assets might be left as cryptocurrency or converted into USD, depending on the state’s rules.

Steps To Recover Your Escheated Funds

1. Locate Your State’s Unclaimed Property Website

Every state provides an official Unclaimed Property Program website where escheated funds can be claimed. Here are direct links to some commonly referenced states:

2. Gather the Required Information

When submitting a claim, you may need to provide the following details:

  • Your Binance.US account ID.

  • Transaction details, such as asset names and timestamps.

  • A property ID, if required by your state. For assistance with property IDs, contact your state’s customer service.

3. Submit Your Claim Online

Follow your state’s online instructions for submitting a claim. Be prepared to upload identification documents or other verifying details, as requested by the state program. If the funds have already been escheated but are not visible on the site, wait for an email notification about the claim process completion. Alternatively, contact the state for further updates.

4. Track and Finalize Your Claim

Refer to the state website for updates on the status of your claim. Some states may provide a tracking system where you can monitor your application’s progress. If additional follow-ups are needed, ensure you respond promptly.
